When You’re Feeling Doubt or Fear — Try This

The most powerful remedy to beating your negative chatter

There’s this old adage that goes something along the lines of, “doubts will be your greatest roadblock to success.” When we feel hopes and desires for things we don’t have in our currently reality, or experience new situations and challenges, it’s common to experience doubts and negative thought patterns. We think things like “what if XYZ goes wrong”, “I won’t succeed” or “this won’t work”. Rarely do we think, “what if it works out for the best?” or “this is going to be amazing”.

Sometimes these doubts become so loud that they can stop us in our tracks and prevent us from moving forward in any direction. After all, humans seek comfort and run from uncertainty. Our brains view the unknown as a threat to our very survival. We are only able to imagine or feel safe in experiences that we have already experienced. Anything beyond that can feel horribly uncomfortable and uncertain.

Whenever I feel scared or doubtful, I remember a segment from Robert Kiyosaki’s book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’…

“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”

The truth is, there’s a Chicken Little inside all of us, running around our heads filling them with doubt and fear.
